Mynas of the Ancient Moon

Famille rose enamels on translucent glass; with a flat foot and flat foot rim; painted on one main side with a pheasant-like male bird and a crouching female perched on a rock beside bamboo, the sun partially hidden by clouds above, and on the other with a pair of myna birds on a branch with a flowering chrysanthemum plant; the foot inscribed in seal script Guyue xuan 古月軒 (‘Ancient Moon Pavilion’)
Imperial, Yangzhou, 1767 – 1799
Height: 5.40 cm
Mouth/lip: 0.7/1.3 cm
Stopper: glass, carved with a coiled chi dragon
