**A CARVED AMBER SNUFF BOTTLE

Of compressed form with flat lip and concave oval foot, finely carved on each shoulder with a mask-and-ring handle, the material of even, warm golden-yellow tone, green glass stopper with silver collar

Although of an unusually even yellow color, this range of material is thought to have been imported from the Baltic region via trade along the Silk Road. See the footnote to lot 207 for further comments on amber.
